Independent Cllr. Neil Johnson has called on Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council to invite Jackie Weaver, chief officer of the Cheshire Association of Local Councils (ChALC), to provide guidance on the running of the Council.
Jackie Weaver became an overnight internet star when her running of a Handforth Town Council meeting went viral.
Now, Cllr Johnson is suggesting that she could be invited to “iron out” some of the more recent disagreements over the way Culcheth and Glazebury’s meetings are handled.
Cllr Johnson said: “Myself, other councillors and local residents have all been in contact with the Cheshire Association of Local Councils to open a dialogue over the way in which aspects of Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council’s meetings are run.
“There are very obvious concerns around residents participation, the level of detail (or lack thereof) in the minutes, the way in which the views of certain councillors have been omitted from the relevant paperwork, responses issued by the Clerk, the absence of clarity over the finances, and the way in which Part 2 meetings have been managed.
“I am pleased that Jackie Weaver has offered to meet and assist the Council with any operational concerns. However, for this to be a productive discussion, all Councillors would have to agree. It presents an opportunity for Independent Councillors to set down the issues and concerns that we have tried to highlight during recent meetings and receive professional advice in return. For example, Ms Weaver has already acknowledged that the lack of Agenda for Part 2 meetings is unacceptable and such a document should exist to show what will be discussed.
“The way the Parish Council is functioning is totally unacceptable and is in stark contrast to neighbouring Parishes like Croft and Winwick, which are run well.
“I call upon Labour and Conservative councillors to invite Jackie Weaver to a roundtable session to iron out these problems. Let Independent members, and local residents if needbe, set out in writing the concerns they have, and let us allow Ms Weaver to give us her advice on each individual point. If the two parties who run the Parish Council in coalition are sure of their footing, they will have nothing to fear.”
Culcheth & Glazebury Parish Council declined to comment.

When I was a Parish Councillor for Poulton and Fearnhead we had a great Parish Clerk who kept us informed and advised. As stated Croft and Winwick are well run. Surely they could advise instead of bringing in a headliner?
