Mayor seeks nominations for community champions

MAYOR of Warrington Cllr. Mo Hussain is inviting local people to nominate individuals or groups who deserve recognition for their outstanding contributions to the town.

Nominations are now open for the Mayor Awards. Each nomination should include a 200–500 word statement explaining why the nominee meets the criteria for their chosen category and how they have gone above and beyond in their role.

The winners in each category will be invited to Warrington Town Hall to receive their award and enjoy a drink with the Mayor in his parlour on a Friday of their choice.
Award Categories:

• Youth Community Champion – Under 18, making a significant impact in the Warrington community.
• Green Champion – Leading initiatives that make Warrington cleaner and more environmentally friendly.
• Community Group Champion – A group that has excelled in supporting the local community.
• Educator Champion – A teacher or instructor (formal or informal) who has provided exceptional learning opportunities.
• Vulnerable Group Champion – Supporting individuals with disabilities, older people, or carers.
• Proud Warringtonian Champion – Someone who embodies the spirit of Warrington through their actions and community involvement.

Cllr Hussain said: “Warrington is built on the strength of its people and the spirit of togetherness that binds us. These awards are about celebrating those who go above and beyond to make our town a better place for everyone. Whether it’s supporting the vulnerable, inspiring young people, or creating greener spaces, these acts of kindness and commitment strengthen our community cohesion and make Warrington a town we can all be proud of.”
