RECORDS were broken at Warrington Park Run at Victoria Park on Christmas Day as more than 800 participants took part in the event.
Local Warrington Athletic Club athlete Alfie Blizzard, a fitting name for Christmas, completed the course in 17 minutes and 1 second, setting a new personal best for the youngster, who is coming on in leaps and bounds. His mum, Louise, a brilliant runne,r was less than 4 and a half minutes behind her son.
Marshalls were kept on their toes dancing and clapping their hands to keep themselves warm in the bitter conditions as eight hundred and fourteen runners and walkers filed passed. Some with dogs and many in fancy dress all having fun. There were plenty of Santas and Elves as well as Morley’s ghost, giving out humbugs to Marshalls. On his back were the words Bah Humbug.
Father Christmas has given Marshalls a day off, but they need to be back on Saturday and again on New Year’s Day. They can’t complain because after all he’s been around the world in 24 hours!

Bah Humbug – Morley’s ghost!
