PRIMARY school children in and around Stockton Heath have been asked to create a mascot to represent the Stockton Heath Festival from 2026 and beyond.
The request was open to children aged 4 to 11 years old, who were invited to fire up their imagination to create a unique character. The young artists were asked to represent the rich history and interesting heritage of the area, and include references to the diverse artistic and cultural activities which make up the Festival weekend.
Volunteer Co-ordinator, Peter says: “Everyone on the Festival committee is excited to see what the children create and see what the Festival means to them through their eyes. We are not looking for a young Picasso! An imaginative idea brought to life is much more important than a perfectly drawn mascot. We are also looking for children to invent a fitting name for their creation.
“We look forward to reviewing the ideas and ultimately choosing the winner. It won’t be easy but we’re hoping there is a character which jumps off the page as the one which can be adapted into a Stockton Heath Festival mascot.”
How will the Festival organising committee pick a winner?
The volunteer team will be looking for a warm and friendly-looking mascot with real personality that strongly represents the Stockton Heath Festival charity. It is hoped that by association the chosen mascot will become popular in the local community, for years to come.
Local are also invited to help shape the 2026 Festival. Please scan the QR code to fill in a brief survey.
