New Cycle Station opens in town centre

There’s great news for local cyclists, with the opening of a brand-new secure cycle parking facility in Warrington town centre.

The brand-new Warrington Cycle Station, located on Horsemarket Street, aims to make cycling more convenient for everyone.
Situated next to the bus interchange and close to Warrington Central train station, it is ideal for commuters and shoppers looking for a secure place to store their bikes while in the town centre.
Completely free to use, the parking station provides secure, 24-hour parking for up to 34 bikes and is easily accessible via a smartphone app.
The facility is part of the council’s wider sustainable transport programme, which is working to transform walking and cycling in the borough by making active travel safer and more accessible.

Warrington Borough Council Leader and cabinet member for transport, Cllr Hans Mundry, said: “This new parking station is all about making life as easy as possible for cyclists on their daily commutes and trips in and around the town.
“We’re working hard to build sustainable transport into everyday life in the heart of Warrington, and that means providing the facilities people need. We hope this new facility – in close proximity to the bus interchange and train station, as well as our one-stop-shop Cycle Hub – will bring real benefits for everyone wishing to cycle in our town.”

Using the new cycle shelter is a simple, three-step process:

  • Register: Visit the Warrington Borough Council website at warrington.gov.uk/warrington-cycle-station and register your details using the sign-up form.
  • Confirm & Download: You’ll receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to use the Ok Key App. Download the app from the Google Play or Apple App Store.
  • Access: Use the app on your smartphone to enter and exit the shelter via Bluetooth.
