SIX fire crews were called out during the early hours of this morning (Monday) following reports of a fire in a loft space at a property in Penketh, Warrington.

At 00:05 two crews from Penketh and four fire engines from Widnes, Lymm, Warrington, and Powey Lane attended at the premises on Warrington Road. The aerial ladder platform from Lymm was also in attendance.

Crews were called to reports of smoke, which was found to be caused by a fire in the loft space of a house. All persons were accounted for.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to tackle the blaze, while the aerial ladder platform was utilised to extinguish the fire from above.
A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hotspots, and firefighters exposed roof timbers to ensure there was no fire spread within the property or neighbouring homes. The aerial ladder platform was also used to remove roof tiles and assess structural safety.
A fire investigation has since been completed, and determined that the cause was an electrical fault.

In another incident at 10:57 this morning, one crew from Warrington attended reports of a skip fire on Winwick Road, Warrington.
One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire, which is believed to have started accidentally.
