A controversial planning application involving the CPS Centre at Culcheth has been withdrawn at short notice ahead of tonight’s Development Management Committee at the town hall.
Local residents opposing plans to carry out alterations to the former shopping arcade, had been planning to turn out in force.
Members of the committee were due to consider controversial plans to carry out works on the first floor of the former shopping arcade as the first steps towards converting it into living accommodation.
It follows on from more than 20 local traders being evicted from the premises earlier this year, at short notice on “fire safety” grounds.
The works proposed at the premises on Common Lane, include skylights, a bin store and cycling racks.
