VILLAGERS turned out in force for the annual Lymm May Queen Festival, which this year had the theme of backing British Farming.
There were plenty of scarecrows on show as a parade of floats, tractors and steam engines went through the village before activities continued on the May Queen Field, which was packed with stalls and fairground rides.
The weather remained dry and warm, one of the main reasons for moving the event from May to July.
Local dairy farmer GP Broadsmith said: “We are delighted that the theme this year is British Farming 🇬🇧 and would like to take this opportunity to thank the many homes, schools and businesses who have deliveries in and around Lymm, for their support.
“Our float in this year’s parade will also pay a small tribute to the many local cafes, restaurants and shops we are proud to supply. These businesses stock/serve a range of local produce and are a great support to the local rural economy. They include:

Following the procession through the village, there was a fun filled day on the field from the crowning of this year’s queens to live music from XL5.
The entire May Queen committee worked tirelessly to keep the village on its toes with new and exciting entertainment, including a rollercoaster on the field.
Organisers gave a “Shout out to all of the beautiful people who came out to help marshal and/or greet visitors at the gates. As a team of only 8 core committee members, we cannot thank you enough!”
