WARRINGTON teenager Luke Littler gave another remarkable performance to land his first major ranking title with a one-sided 16-3 victory over Martin Lukeman.
Luke Littler showed remarkable calmness after his nail-biting semi-final victory earlier in the day, which would have made a much better final and said he would celebrate by playing on his XBox!
Speaking to Sky Sports after the breath-taking victory Luke Littler said: “I was very happy with my performance. The best feeling was when all the confetti came out. This is what we play for.
“The World Championship changed me and changed my performance. Now the months have gone on and I’m getting used to it all. I’m going to have to get used to it for a very long time.
“This is one of the ones I wanted to win. My major record isn’t the best, but it’s ok now. I wanted to come here and go deep. It’s even better now I’ve done it.
“It shows I’m still here.
“How will I celebrate? Go home, play on the XBox for a bit…”
Luke Littler sets up three championship darts on 24. He misses one at D12 before he wins the Grand Slam of Darts on D6.
The 17-year-old was 2-0 down. He reeled of 15 legs in a row to surge to his first major TV ranking title inside the first year of his professional career.
He is now the Grand Slam champion at just 17, 10 months after hitting the headlines and is now the youngest ever world number five.
His victory was made even more remarkable by the fact he lost the first two sets, but then bounced back winning 15 on the bounce.
With his victory came a £150,000 prize.
