Council assessing long-term solutions to resolve flooding at Orford Jubilee Hub

LONG-term solutions are being assessed in a bid to resolve ongoing flooding issues at Orford Jubilee Hub.

Recent heavy rains have again caused major flooding at the showpiece LiveWire Hub opened by the Queen in 2012, impacting car parking for users.

Locals now refer to the flood waters as “the great lake”

Flooding issues have been an ongoing issue ever since the facility opened.

Even extensive highway resurfacing works last year failed to resolve the problems.

A Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said: “We know that flooding at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub remains a persistent issue when there are periods of heavy rainfall. We are assessing long-term solutions to address the problem.”

  1. Remember doing the starlight walk one year and trying to avoid getting soaked feet at the start.
We all said then that something needs to be done.
It was boggy ground before it was built on . Should never have been built in that location.
I was brought up around the area so know how it was when it rained

  2. The first time it clearly had a flooding issue they dug up and resurfaced supposedly to resolve this. Didn’t work and presumably they sought advice then. Car park areas under water have continued so perhaps they could share the advice they received.
