New traffic restrictions set to come into force to improve pedestrian safety outside St Gregory’s High School

NEW traffic restrictions are set to come into force on Peace Drive outside St Gregory’s High School at Great Sankey, to improve pedestrian safety during school hours.

The new order comes into force, tomorrow, Thursday (August 18) to address hazardous and obstructive parking that occurs outside the school on Peace Drive.

The Council is introducing a prohibition of loading/unloading to complement existing waiting restrictions with the intention of improving pedestrian safety outside St Gregory’s High School during start and finish times.
Warrington Borough Council has made an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers on 17th August 2022. The effect of the Order is as follows: –

1. The Borough of Warrington (Traffic Management) (Civil Enforcement) Consolidation Order 2018, is hereby further varied or amended as follows:-
(a) In the 3rd Schedule by the addition of:
NO WAITING AT ANY TIME
Peace Drive (Both Sides) For its entire length.
(b) In the 71st Schedule by the addition of:
NO LOADING AND UNLOADING AT ANY TIME
Peace Drive (Both Sides) For its entire length.
The Order will be effective from 18th August 2022.

Deposited documents may be viewed on-line at https://www.warrington.gov.uk/permanent-traffic-regulation-orders or Town Hall Reception, Town Hall, Sankey Street, Warrington, WA1 1UH between 9am & 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks from 17th August 2022, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
