RivFest Weekender postponed until next year

THIS year’s RivFest charity music festival which had been set to return to the 2,500-capacity Old Market Square, Warrington with a three-day weekender of major names and hotly tipped talent has been postponed until next year.

RivFest is presented by The River Reeves Foundation, an arts charity launched in 2016 following the tragic deaths of River, his band Viola Beach and their manager, Craig Tarry.

This year’s event had been scheduled to run from 5th – 7th August.

In a statement, the organisers posted: “It is with a very heavy heart we announce that due to unforeseen circumstances, this year’s RivFest Weekender will be postponed until Friday 4th – Sunday 6th August 2023.

“This was not an easy decision for the RivFest committee to make. RivFest is one of the River Reeves Foundation’s primary fundraising events for the bursaries that the charity provide, and something that helps us to continue River Reeves’ legacy each year. It is an annual celebration of new and emerging talent across Warrington, the North West and the rest of the country, and a much-loved event for the people of Warrington, so we hope you can understand that this was a very difficult but necessary decision to make. We are working hard to keep as much of the line-up as possible in place for next year, however please be prepared for line-up changes. Thank you to all of those who have worked tirelessly on the event this year, and we look forward to a successful RivFest Weekender in 2023.

Refunds are available via your ticket provider, or you may keep hold of them for 2023. Enjoy the rest of your summer.”

Headline acts had included legendary Haçienda DJ Graeme Park alongside other big names including the Lottery Winners.
