Right royal occasion as Lymm May Queen Festival celebrates Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

IT was a right royal occasion for the 130th Lymm May Queen Festival with a theme to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

This year’s May Queen was Fay Griffiths while the Rose Queen was Lilly Raftery. Thousands of people turned out to support the event in the village enjoying the parade and events on the May Queen field.

It also marked the final official event of the year for the first citizen and Mayor of Warrington Cllr Maureen Creaghan, who hands over her chains of office on Monday evening.

The Lymm May Queen parade involving villagers and local school children and community organisations was led through the village by Town Crier Peter Powell.

A note of thanks to all those who give up their time organising the event too, led by the local Cllr Kath Buckley, Chair of the organising committee.

It was the first of a number of events planned for Lymm village celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in the coming weeks.
