STAFF at Stockton Heath Library have won praise from members of the parish council.
The council was told Warrington Borough Council is consulting the public about proposed cuts to the library service, including the possibility of reducing opening hours at all libraries.
But Coun Dorothy Robb praised Stockton Heath Library.
She said: “The staff are so friendly and helpful and they provide a range of services and information.”
Coun Wendy Emsley was concerned that cutting opening hours would make it more difficult for children to study.
She said: “Children use the library to study. When they come from overcrowded homes this can be the only place where they can study.”
A four-week consultation on the future of the service is being carried out by the borough council including drop-in sessions at libraries and a series of public meetings. Further details are available from the library website and libraries.
Another option being considered is ending the mobile library service and closing Grappenhall and Great Sankey libraries.
