Police provide reassurance following reports of male armed with “BB gun” near Birchwood High School

POLICE stepped up patrols near Birchwood High School to provide reassurances following reports of an unknown male seen in the area armed with a BB Gun or something similar.

Local police received reports of the male being in the area on Chatfield Drive, yesterday, at around 8.10 am.

A visible presence was in the area this morning to provide reassurance.

A police spokesperson said: “We received a report that yesterday on the 5th of January at approximately 08:10 an unknown male was seen on Chatfield Drive walking towards Admirals Road and may have been carrying what is described as a BB gun or similar.

“This appears to be an isolated incident and no further information has yet come to light.

“Please be sure to report suspicious activity to us on 101, or 999 in an emergency.”
