RESIDENTS are being warned to be vigilant following an increase in pedal cycle thefts in the Birchwood area of Warrington.

Local police received reports of a pedal cycle being stolen from the rear garden of a property on Redshank Lane earlier this week.

There has been a rise in thefts of pedal cycles recently and police are strongly recommending cyclists in the Birchwood area to store their pushbikes as securely as possible, particularly if a back garden backs onto a public footpath.

Police are also warning people to be wary of using apps such as Strava, as information can be accessed by bike thieves if the app is set to public.
Please report any such incidents to police on 101 or by using the online form, unless there is an incident in progress, in which case, 999.
