Firefighters to the rescue as blocked drains threaten property with flooding

FIREFIGHTERS were called out at Warrington last night following reports of blocked storm drains threatening to flood a nearby property.
The incident was in Poplars Avenue, Orford and the crew from Birchwood Fire Station discovered a property at risk of flooding because of a blocked drain outside.
Borough council workmen were on hand to deliver sandbags to protect the property.
Firefighters used a pump to unblock the drains – and the floodwaters did not reach the property.
