Grappenhall move up to third place after eight wicket victory

GRAPPENHALL moved up to third place in the RSK Cheshire County Cricket division one after an eight wicket home victory over struggling Marple.
Adam Roylance took 3-17 with his off-spin as Marple were restricted to 176-8. Arran McCabe took 2-47.
Grant Hodnett hit an unbeaten 70, Roylance 38 and Ben Bodha 34 not out as Grappers 179-2 in 34 overs.



The win strenghtns Grappers’ chances of promotion back to the premier division as they are now only three points behind second placed Bowdon.
Grappenhall 2nd drew their game at Heaton Mersey after a tense finish.
The home side batted first and finished on 171-9. Ross Arrowsmith took 4-37 and Matt Titchard 3-43.
At 91-6, Grappers were not well placed but 40 from Graeme Rowlands and 44 from Ben Clissold took them to 163-9 when the overs ran out.
Warrington lost heavily against Congleton at Walton Lea.
They were put in and bowled out for a disappointing 116, Jake Liddle, 30, top scoring. The visitors hit off the runs for the loss of just one wicket.
Warrington 2nd also went down after being dismissed for 127 at Upton, James Lewis hitting 43 and Mark Lawton 38.
Upton cruised to 130-2.
In the UKFast Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park lost by 53-runs at Knutsford, where the home side battedf first and reached 170-4.
Lymm were bowled out for 117, Astrayo Daw hitting 27 and Arvind Pillai 24.
But Lymm 2nd won by seven wickets at home to Oakmere who were restricted to 171-8, Graham Waumsley taking6-21 in eight overs.
Opener Dave Evans hit 65 and Prashnt Nanda 65 not out as Lymm reached their target for the loss of three wickets.
Appleton’s home game at Lyons Lane was cancelled, as was their 2nd XI game. The 3rd XI got a walk-over when Congleton conceded.
Glazebury’s home game against Bowdon Vale was cancelled and Glazebury 2nd went down by 90 runs at Upton after the home team had hit 233-6, despite Matthew Brunt’s excellent 4-48.
Opener Sean Caine hit 38, Stephen Brunt 36 and Simon Green 31 as Glazebury replied with 143.

Women’s Cricket

EMMA Barlow hit 40 for Appleton has they hit 111-9 agaisnt unbeaten Oakmere in the Cheshire Women’s Cricket League.
But that was as far as the match got as rain forced it to be abandoned at the half-way stage.
