WHILE Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown has pulled out of Warrington’s Neighbourhood Weekender Festival over ‘proof of vaccination’ request, organisers of the event, like all festivals this summer, say it will comply with Government conditions.
But no decisions will be taken by Government until at least June 21st with organisers saying they are working with other festival organisers to ensure a safe return to open-air festivals this summer.
Whether that will include the need for festival-goers having a “vaccine passport” is not yet known.
But the Lymm based Stones Roses frontman, who has been a vocal opponent of COVID-19 vaccines, announced on social media that he was pulling out of the three-day rescheduled festival, offering fans their money back, stating: “My Saturday night headline show at NHBD Weekender Festival will now not happen! I refuse to accept vaccination proof as condition of entry. Refunds are available!
His headline Saturday night slot has now been filled by follow Manchester indie rockers James.
Meanwhile, in an announcement on social media, the NBHD organisers said: “We want to assure ticket holders and those about to buy tickets for NBHD Weekender, like all festivals this summer, will comply with the conditions outlined by the Government through the Local Authority.
“No decisions will be taken by Government untl 21st June at the earliest.
“We are working with other festival organisers and look forward to a safe return to open-air events this summer.”
The biggest indie festival in the North West will return to Warrington’s Victoria Park from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th September 2021!
The festival, rescheduled from May 2021, will bring an incredible weekend of live music across three stages. All tickets will remain valid for the new dates. For those that can no longer attend, they are advised to contact their ticket agent to arrange a refund.
