Nine more COVID-19 hospital deaths as inpatient numbers reach new high

NINE more COVID-19 related deaths have sadly been reported at Warrington & Halton Hospitals since Friday while inpatient numbers have reached a new high, including a significant increase in Warrington residents.

Alongside the nine deaths since Friday, the total number of inpatients is now 187, including 115 from Warrington, which has increased from 76 last week. The previous highest number of inpatients was 179 on November 6.
Meanwhile, 178 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Warrington in the latest daily update from Public Health England – which has resulted in the first downward trend since the latest lockdown came into force, although reporting figures can be lower after a weekend.
More than 2.6 million doses of coronavirus vaccines have been given to almost 2.3 million people according to Health Secretary Matt Hancock in a Downing Street press conference while an NHS boss warned the jab is “not a free pass” to ignore national guidance.
Mr Hancock told the news conference that the government was on track to achieve its pledge of vaccinating the top four vaccine priority groups by the middle of February, a total of 15 million Britons.
Meanwhile, The 178 (311) new cases take the total reported in Warrington, since the start of the pandemic, to 12,841 (12,663).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days, previous days/updates in brackets, are 1,613 (1,663) – 768 (791.9) per 100,000 population – showing the first downward trend in infection rates over a seven day period, since the latest lockdown.
