WARRINGTON South MP Andy Carter is one of several Tory MPs self-isolating after meeting with Prime Minister Boris Johnson last Thursday.
The Prime Minister and Mr Carter both confirmed they were self-isolating following the meeting last week which included back-bencher Lee Anderson, who later developed symptoms and tested positive.
Meanwhile, Mr Johnson has declared himself “fit as a butcher’s dog” as he self-isolates and also raised the prospect of a COVID-19 vaccine being distributed “perhaps before Christmas”.
In a video posted to his Twitter account today, Monday, the prime minister said he had been “pinged” by the NHS Test and Trace system.
He added in the video: “It doesn’t matter that we were all doing social distancing, it doesn’t matter that I’m fit as a butcher’s dog, feel great – so many people do in my circumstances – and actually it doesn’t matter that I’ve had the disease and I’m bursting with antibodies.
“We’ve got to interrupt the spread of the disease and one of the ways we can do that now is by self-isolating for 14 days when you get contacted by NHS Test and Trace.”
Tory backbencher Lee Anderson developed COVID-19 systems and tested positive for the disease after meeting with Mr Johnson last Thursday, forcing the prime minister’s self-isolation.
Three other Conservative MPs present at Thursday’s meeting with the prime minister, including Mr Carter are now also self-isolating. Mr Carter confirmed he is self-osloating on social media this morning.
Yes, I had a call from test and trace yesterday following a work meeting at 10 Downing Street last Thursday. In line with the rules I am self isolating. https://t.co/IZLWwqBytO

Hi folks, I’ve been instructed by our NHS Test & Trace scheme to self-isolate for two weeks, after being in contact with someone with Covid-19.
I’m in good health and have no symptoms, and will continue to lead on our response to the virus & our plans to #BuildBackBetter pic.twitter.com/yNgIme8lOz
