A Warrington outdoor learning centre has received a donation of 60 native tree saplings to help boost biodiversity and support local wildlife.

Willow Haven Centre, based within the grounds of Gulliver’s World in Warrington, received the saplings from Nationwide Fire Solutions Limited as part of the company’s Green Fire initiative.
The company recently visited the site to install fire extinguishers and donated the trees, which include a mix of oak, beech and hazel, all grown from seed in its own nurseries.
The saplings will help enhance the woodland environment at Willow Haven, providing benefits for wildlife and contributing to the long-term health of the site’s natural habitat.
The planting will also support ongoing efforts to manage Himalayan balsam, an invasive non-native plant which can spread rapidly and outcompete native vegetation.
By increasing the presence of native trees, the centre hopes to encourage a more diverse and balanced woodland ecosystem.

Nationwide Fire Solutions’ Green Fire initiative is an environmental project funded by the company, which enables businesses to contribute towards protecting and developing the natural environment.
Through the initiative, more than 48,000 native trees have been planted across the UK, with the company nurturing the saplings from seed in its own nurseries.
Willow Haven is part of Five Rivers Child Care and provides an outdoor learning environment for young people who struggle in busy mainstream settings.
As the trees mature, they will also create opportunities for pupils to learn about biodiversity, conservation and the importance of protecting the natural environment.
Five Rivers and Willow Haven have thanked Nationwide Fire Solutions for its generosity and for helping to make a lasting difference to the site and its wildlife.
