A Warrington care home is continuing to strengthen its links with the local community after choosing the Still Me Warrington Dementia Project as its Charity of the Year for 2026.
Meadowview Care Home in Penketh, which is part of Ashberry Healthcare, has been working closely with Still Me, a project run by Warrington Speak Up which aims to give people living with dementia a stronger voice in the community.
Still Me is one of more than 50 dementia-friendly groups and services across Warrington helping people living with dementia to meet others, build confidence and reduce isolation.
Meadowview said the project was chosen because of its “meaningful, person-centred work” and its commitment to ensuring people living with dementia “feel heard, valued and supported”.
The partnership began with a visit from Lisa Betteridge of Warrington Speak Up, with the home planning further activities and fundraising throughout the year.
In June, Meadowview held its first Community Coffee Morning, bringing together families, friends, St Joseph’s Parish Centre and residents from Rosevilla Residential Home for an afternoon of socialising and community connection.
Lisa and her colleague Jill later attended Meadowview’s staff awards ceremony, where they spoke to residents and staff about Still Me’s work and the support available to people affected by dementia.
They were also presented with a £500 donation from Ashberry Healthcare in recognition of the charity’s work.
Lisa said the money would help raise awareness of the support available to people affected by dementia across Warrington.
She said: “The money that you’ve raised is going to be really useful in making sure that everyone in Warrington who is affected by dementia knows that they are not alone, that there’s support out there and there’s help out there.”
The partnership has continued throughout the summer, with Meadowview organising an Afternoon Tea and Summer Fayre to raise funds for Still Me.
The care home has also launched an A-Z Fundraising Challenge, involving 26 different activities designed to keep residents, families and staff involved throughout the year.
Meadowview said its relationship with Still Me and Warrington Speak Up continues to grow, with further opportunities planned for residents and members of the local community to get involved during the remainder of 2026.
