GIRLS Rugby has been successfully launched at Lymm Rugby Club at the start of the rugby season and the coaches are inviting the full range of age groups.
Girls aged between Under 4 years to Under 14 years old are invited to the Artificial Grass Pitch at Lymm RFC where coaching will be specifically tailored to those age groups.
In addition, girls in Under 11 and Under 12 age groups will combine with the view to developing a team to compete locally with other clubs.
“We recognise there are lots of girls, across the full age spectrum, who are keen to get involved with rugby,” commented Ian Cope, head of Mini and Junior rugby at Lymm RFC,’ said Ian. “We were hoping for upto 10 girls attending and ended up with 20, across a full age range,” he added.
“This shows us there is real demand for Girls Rugby in the area and we welcome all who would like to join us’, added Ian.
“We also recruited a mum, a former player, onto the coaching team, at the first session, which is exactly what we’d like to do more of in the future,’ added Josh Hadland who is heading up the Girls Rugby coaching team.
“The success of the national Ladies Team is brilliant, sparking interest, and we are keen to build our own teams, from the grass roots upwards, for all age groups. What’s more we have both superb facilities and the coaching team dedicated to the task. Exciting times,” concluded Ian.
Girls aged between 4 and 14 years old can attend training sessions every Sunday from 2pm to 3pm and every Wednesday in October from 7pm – 8pm
