PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have rejected proposals for an indoor padel centre in a disused warehouse building on the Stretton Distribution Centre.
They say the scheme would mean the loss of employment land in an area designated for employment purposes
Applicants Linkup Padel wanted to provide a high quality padel centre in an area where there is limited existing provision.
It would have provided four double courts, a competition court and two single courts.
Padel tennis is a fast-growing racquet sport and, according to the applicants, provision in the Warrington area is relatively limited. The nearest indoor courts are about seven miles away, although there are two outdoor courts about three miles away.
