GRAPPENHALL resident Jason Sage (M7MDN) has been featured in RadCom, the national magazine of the Radio Society of Great Britain — a proud moment not just for Jason, but for theWarrington Amateur Radio Club, where his journey began.
Jason joined the club only last year, arriving with curiosity and enthusiasm despite having no background in radio or electronics. With support from club mentors, he quickly earned his Foundation Licence, progressed to Intermediate, and is now studying for his Full Licence — a remarkable achievement in such a brief time.
His enthusiasm for hands‑on learning has led to several successful construction projects. His first build, an AllStar node, connected his handheld radio to an internet‑linked network and worked perfectly on first power‑up. He then built a QRP Labs QDX digital transceiver, further developing his practical skills.

Jason is also active on the air. He recently took part in the 144 MHz VHF UK Activity Contest, encouraging newer members to “pick up the microphone and have a go.” His dedication was recognised when he received a Silver Award from club Vice Chairman Alan G8WQE and RSGB Regional Representative and Brickworks mentor Mike IsherwoodG4VSS.
