Fire crews assist with medically trapped casualties following collision at Birchwood

TWO fire crews assisted with medically trapped casualties following a collision at Birchwood, Warrington, on Saturday night.

Shortly before midnight fire crews from Warrington and Lymm attended a road traffic collision involving a vehicle that had collided with the barrier on the M6 northbound exit slip road to the M62 westbound.

Two casualties were medically trapped inside the vehicle when crews arrived. Firefighters worked alongside North West Ambulance Service to provide trauma care and safely assist both casualties from the vehicle.
Crews carried out precautionary thermal monitoring. There were no signs of fire, smoke or abnormal readings.
Police and National Highways managed traffic, with lane closures in place while emergency services dealt with the collision.
Crews remained at the scene to make sure the vehicle was safe for recovery.
