THREE fire crews were called out earlier today, Thursday, following reports of a car fire on the M56 near Daresbury.

Shortly before 11 am, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to put out a car fire on the hard shoulder of the M56.
The westbound carriageway was closed while crews dealt with the incident.
At around 11:45, firefighters carried out final checks using a thermal imaging camera and began packing away equipment. The incident was then handed over to Highways to manage the clean-up of an oil spill affecting all three lanes.
