MAYOR of Warrington Cllr. Mo Hussain was on hand for the grand opening of the first fully wheelchair-accessible playground in Warrington at Fantastic Fox Wood SEND School.
The Mayor was joined at the official opening of playground at Fantastic Fox Wood SEND School by Warrington North MP Charlotte Nichols.
The playground has been made possible after the Fantastic Fox Wood PTA won the national Certas Energy Community Bloom Fund, securing the final £30,000 needed to complete the project.
Fox Wood SEND School supports 132 pupils, 40% of whom use wheelchairs. The playground will also be open to children from across Warrington through local SEND groups and holiday clubs.
Guests were welcomed at the event by Headteacher Lucinda Duffy and PTA co-chair Laura Simms
Following the official ribbon cutting and plaque unveiling, children explored the play equipment, including the wheelchair swing. Pizza was also served.
Mayor Hussain said: “Every child deserves the joy of play, and this playground means they can explore, laugh and make memories freely. Even better, it will be open to children across Warrington through local SEND groups and holiday clubs. It’s a space for our whole community.
“This facility sends a clear message: in Warrington, we value inclusion, and every child deserves to belong and thrive. Thank you again to everyone who helped bring this vision to life ,you should all be so proud.
“To all the children here: enjoy your new playground, have fun, make friends and create brilliant adventures.”
