THE 3rd Warrington (1st Culcheth) Scout Group has been given a £10,000 grant from the National Lottery – enabling them to start work on improvements to the Scout Centre in Jackson Avenue.
Improvements will include a new eco-friendly heating system and roof repairs.
Group operational team member Daphne Eastburn – who this year celebrates 50 years uninterrupted voluntary work for the scouts – said: “Work started in April, after seeking quotes and a local builder.
“This project will make a big difference to all our scout group and community users.”
The scouts are looking forward to Culcheth Community Day on the village green on May 4 when they are hoping to raise money for scout funds.
They are also planning a family day on July 11.
Members of the group will be attending Chamboree ‘26 taking place on the Cheshire Show Ground from August 8-15 – an international camp attended by more than 6,000 scouts, guides, etc.
Theme of the camp will be “The Animal Kingdom” and it will be a week of fun, adventure, friendship and forever memories.
