WARRINGTON VIPs (Visually Impaired People) have returned from a memorable and laughter-filled holiday to Blackpool, proving that even stormy weather can’t dampen their spirits.
The group enjoyed a packed itinerary during their stay, including a visit to the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom, where VIPs were treated to a delightful afternoon tea followed by dancing beneath the famous chandeliers.
The trip was full of classic seaside experiences, with members enjoying traditional fish and chips, shopping trips in Cleveleys, souvenir shopping and strolls along the Blackpool Promenade.
There was no shortage of entertainment throughout the week. Highlights included singing on the bus, ball games, and plenty of laughter, with appearances from Fred Flintstone and even a giant banana adding to the fun.
While the weather proved challenging at times, with gale-force winds, sleet, hail, and rain, the group remained in high spirits. One unexpected moment saw strong winds catch a bus door, resulting in a smashed window. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and National Glass quickly replaced the glass the following day, allowing the trip to continue smoothly. The sunshine finally made a welcome appearance on Thursday, rounding off the holiday on a brighter note.
Trustee and volunteer, Lisa Wong, said “Spending the week in Blackpool with Warrington VIP was, as it always is, a lovely experience. Seeing the smiles and laughter amongst friends, and knowing you’ve helped someone enjoy their holiday, really means everything.”
