ONGOING road closures on Winwick Road as part of Warrington Borough Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan are set to be extended until the end of March due to delays on site.

The works were scheduled from October 27th for up to 14 weeks, with temporary road closures between 7 pm and 6 am to minimise traffic disruption.

The borough council has now given notice that it intends to extend the order due to the delays.

Warrington Borough Council made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on 9th October 2025. The effect of which is as follows:
Prohibition of Driving: Winwick Road from its junction with Long Lane to its junction with Pinners Brow; Long Lane from its junction with Winwick Road to its junction with Fisher Avenue.
Temporary Suspension of The Borough of Warrington (A50 Long Lane/Orford Green) (7.5 Tonne Weight Limit) Order 2007 in so far as it relates to: A50 Long Lane (Eastbound) from the A49 Winwick Road to the west side of its junction with Fisher Avenue; A50 Orford Green (Westbound) from its junction with Hilden Place to the east side of its junction with the south-eastern end of Birtles Road.
The Order was effective from 27th October 2025 for 14 weeks, between 7pm and 6am, however due to delays on site the restrictions are now required to remain in place until 31st March 2026, as and when signed on site. The phases of works, access, alternative routes and reason for the works remains the same as previously advertised.
