Local businessman Richy Sutton publishes book to inspire others to succeed

PARTLY inspired by his son’s endurance efforts local businessman Richy Sutton has published a book based on his fascination with the mindset of discipline and consistency and how it can have a positive effect on peoples lives.

Richy, who has run a chain of coffee shops and been involved at Warrington Town FC for many years, has seen his son Harrison win the tough endurance Paras 10 on three occasions, has now written a book he hopes will inspire others.
This weekend it is available to downolaod for FREE on Amazon from Friday morning for Sunday evening – normal costs £9.99. CLICK HERE
Taking up the story behind the book Richy from Warrington, said: “As we left Catterick Barracks that September afternoon in 2022, I was replaying the day out loud — full of adrenaline and pride. My brother Karl, his son Antony, and I had all completed the course, and my son Harrison — just nineteen at the time — had finished fifth in the Paras 10, ahead of most of the 700-plus entrants, the vast majority of them serving military personnel.

Ultimate Paras 10

Harrison with proud dad Richy

“For anyone unfamiliar, the Paras 10 is the Parachute Regiment’s gruelling endurance test: ten miles in the hills above Catterick Barracks, full kit, boots, and a 35-pound weighted bergen. It’s designed to test you to your limit. For civilians, just completing it is an achievement.
“That day, we’d all completed it. For me, that felt like mission accomplished. But Harrison sat in silence, staring out of the window.
“We told him how proud we were — fifth place among serving soldiers was remarkable. He barely nodded. Eventually, he spoke:
“Two Ghurkhas passed me near the end,” he said. “At the finish, one came over and said, ‘Great race — I used you as a marker.”
“He looked back out of the window and said quietly:
“That won’t happen again.”
“And that was the moment everything changed.
“Over the next three years, Harrison trained differently. Quietly. Consistently. He showed up again. And again. He went on to win the event three years running — 2023, 2024, and 2025.
“No shortcuts. No noise. Just relentless discipline.
“That’s what this book is about.
“It’s not about military fitness or finishing races — it’s about what happens when you commit to showing up, no matter what the challenge is.
“Whether it’s sport, business, your career, your health, or your relationships — the same principles apply:
“Show up. Do the work. Make it happen.
“Because life gives all of us our own version of the Paras 10 — tests that demand resilience, focus, and consistency.
“Throughout this book, we’ll look at the mindsets, principles, and habits of people who’ve achieved extraordinary things — world-class athletes, elite soldiers, entrepreneurs, and leaders. We’ll explore what sets them apart and, more importantly, how you can adapt those same principles to stop procrastinating, build discipline, and create lasting momentum in every area of your life.
“Each chapter is a mission — a blend of real-world stories, proven methods, and practical actions to help you build the same unstoppable mindset.
“You don’t need perfect conditions or motivation. You just need to start where you are — and keep showing up.
“Because in the end, the secret to success — in anything — is simpler than most people think.”

Show up.
Do the work.
Make it happen
