AN investigation is underway after six people were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation following a house fire at Orford, Warrington, on Christmas Eve.
At 21:14, four fire engines, from Warrington, Lymm, Birchwood and Penketh, attended at a terraced property on Fairbrother Crescent.
Upon arrival, they found a fire involving the ground-floor kitchen of one property. Fire and smoke were also spreading to a neighbouring household through the connecting roof void.
Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus worked across both properties, using hose reel jets to put the fire out. Large fans were then used to clear the smoke out of the buildings.
Seven people were suffering from smoke inhalation, with six transported to the hospital by attending paramedics.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway.
