Woolston Hub: Another call for greater transparency and community involvement

ANOTHER Cllr. has called for greater transparency and community involvement over the ongoing consultation on the future of Woolston Hub.

Cllr Graham Gowland, Opposition Lead for Leisure Services, is encouraging residents to take part in Warrington Borough Council’s consultation on the future of Woolston Neighborhood Hub, while highlighting the need for more detailed information to support meaningful public input.
It follows on from a similar call from local Cllr. Rob Tynana last week.
Cllr Gowland said: “Many residents have expressed a desire for more information about the challenges facing Woolston Hub. In response to these concerns, I submitted a series of Freedom of Information requests to the council, hoping to help make the consultation as open and informed as possible.
“So far, the information released has been limited—mainly a few legionella test results, with no detailed maintenance or inspection reports, and no supporting documentation for the £3 million refurbishment figure.
“Details about the options under consideration have also not been shared.
“I understand that managing public assets is complex, but I believe that sharing more evidence and background would help residents contribute fully to the consultation. I will continue to seek clarification as a Councillor, and I encourage everyone to participate and ask for the information they need.”
The consultation is open now at:

Cllr. Gowland invites all residents to make their voices heard and to request the facts they need to make informed comments before any final decision is made.
The community club first closed in July due to an issue with legionella in the water supply, with the council announcing an ongoing closure in September due to other maintenance issues, including a rotting floor and roofing issues.

Call to Save Woolston Neighbourhood Hub passed unanimously by council
