Celebrating 20 years of Direct Taxis

WARRINGTON-based Direct Taxis is celebrating 20 years of business in the town, safe in the knowledge it is one of the safest and cheapest places to use a taxi.

With all their cabs fitted with CCTV cameras, providing peace of mind for drivers and passengers alike, Warrington is ranked as one of the areas with the lowest fares, which haven’t increased since 2023.

Founders Dave Hatton and Steve Hinds who run the business with fellow director Tony Wilcock are proud of the company’s achievements over the past 20 years, with a fleet of nearly 100 vehicles, including several mini-buses which are all maintained by another local business Catherine Street Motors.
He’s delighted Warrington Borough Council had a change of heart over plans to scrap camaras in cabs to try and be more competitive for licensing.
“We know we have some of the safest and cheapest cabs in the country and people can travel with peace of mind, knowing they have a properly licensed vehicle and driver.”
With competition fierce from the likes of Uber, Dave is passionate about running a local business, employing local people.
“We need local residents to understand the value of supporting a local business against a national competitor. They also need to know the risk of using operators who don’t have CCTV in their cabs and trade from outside the area.”
As part of their 20thanniversary celebrations Dave and fellow director Tony, visited Warrington Town Hall where they were greeted by Mayor Cllr. Mo Hussain.
Mayor Hussain said: “As we head into the festive season, I encourage everyone to stay safe by using only Warrington Borough Council–licensed taxis. These vehicles are fitted with safety cameras for your protection and operate on regulated, often cheaper tariffs. By choosing local licensed taxis, you’re keeping yourself safe and supporting our community.
“I also want to thank and congratulate Direct Taxis for visiting me at the Town Hall and celebrating their 20 years in business — a fantastic milestone, with many more successful years to come.”
