A Councillor has called for urgent action for ongoing delays at Warrington Hospital’s Accident & Emergency Department.
Cllr. John Roddy (Bewsey & Whitecross) is calling for urgent action to tackle what he describes as “unacceptable and unsafe” waiting times at the hospital’s A&E department.
Residents from across Warrington have reported waiting up to 12 hours, with some patients kept on trolleys in corridors for up to 23 hours.
“This is simply not acceptable for patients or their families,” said Cllr Roddy. “People in urgent need of medical care should not be facing such long delays.”
He stressed that his comments are not a criticism of NHS staff.
“Our nurses, doctors and support teams are fantastic and dedicated. They are working under intense pressure and deserve better. Raising this issue is about supporting them as much as the patients.”
Cllr Roddy says Warrington Borough Council, NHS leaders and central government must now work together urgently.
“Warrington cannot continue to expand through major new housing developments without matching investment in essential services. Our ageing hospital is already overstretched. Growth must come with the infrastructure to support it.”
He added: “This is not political — it is about safety, dignity and delivering the healthcare Warrington residents deserve.”

Well said
My wife and I recently waited 16 hours in Warrington A&E it took 10.5 hour for a blood test to be looked at by a doctor. My wife had chest pain and pain down her arm.
The councillors are right to raise the matter with local MPs
Our local MP’s only ever seem to pay lip service to requests from constituents. Andy Carter had no joy while the Tories were in the chair. Surely now with two Labour M P’s and a Labour government they should bet getting off their backsides and making noise.
