Local composer has first string-quartet work performed

TWO years in the making, Warrington composer Lewis Gill recently had his first-ever string quartet production, entitled “Transit,” performed, recorded and filmed in Bristol.

The former Prog rocker who turned to composing music is delighted to see his work performed by the The Bristol String Quartet.

Composer Lewis from Latchford said: ” I’d read good things about them. Within a week they had emailed me back saying they’d be delighted to play it. So a performance was arranged for 13th November.
“I couldn’t actually be there in person so I couldn’t really supervise them. The following day they sent me a video of the performance which is now on YouTube.
They are a highly experienced group of musicians who have played at over 3000 functions and classical music concerts. They were formed in 2007.
“This was my first attempt at writing a string quartet, I’m used to writing for mixed instruments so this was a challenge – being limited to using only one colour.
“I intend to receive more real performances in the future, maybe larger ensembles too.”
