MANAGER Neil Reynold’s return to his former club produced a 0 – 1 victory for Warrington Rylands against a determined FC United of Manchester.
Billed as a “six-pointer”, this was top of the table versus second, and didn’t disappoint from start to finish.

Lest we forget
As the sun was setting behind the stands, the Red Rebels shot out of the blocks with every intention of maintaining their unbeaten home performance at Broadhurst Park in front of a crowd of over 2200. Warrington withstood every attack and slowly settled into their own rhythm.
Two good sides, both at the top of their form, went head-to-head for 90 minutes but seemingly cancelled each other out. Tackles were not for the faint-hearted, and both captains, Dec Evans and Dean Furman, succumbed to injuries on the field. Similarly, both teams adapted to the necessary changes.
Although neither keeper was really tested throughout the match, it was an own goal that finally beat Dan Atherton, handing the win to Rylands. With five minutes of normal time left, a cross from Ben Hardcastle was met by Jan Palinkas, who attempted to head back to his keeper, but misdirected it past Atherton and into his own net.

The Reds threw everything they had at a defensive Warrington and, despite what appeared to be an incredibly long injury time, were unable to penetrate the rear guard.
Reno said post-match: “There is a buzz around Warrington Rylands and we’re happy about it.”
“It’s never easy coming back to your old club, but I received a good reception and wish them every success.”
“Twelve months ago, we were second from bottom and now we’re five points clear at the top of the league, but there’s still a long way to go.”
Warrington Rylands are back in action next Saturday, 15th November, when they host Whitby Town at The Quickline Logistics Arena.
