WARRINGTON Town Hall has been lit up in St. Rocco’s famous green and blue to mark an incredible milestone- 40 years of providing hospice care to the Warrington community.
Since 1985, their dedicated Nursing team has been providing personalised, wrap-around palliative care to patients and supporting loved ones through the most difficult times.
The original St. Rocco’s hospice building opened its doors to its first patient on 7th May 1985 at St. Ann’s Vicarage, Orford by Her Grace, the Duchess of Norfolk. The building was a three-storey Victorian house, which initially catered for only seven in-patients. However, over the years, it was extended and modified until it could accommodate nine in-patients and five day-patients.
It was decided to relocate St. Rocco’s to Bewsey in 1998 to better serve the needs of the community with a brand-new building that would facilitate a 10-bed in-patient unit, outpatient services and a vitality centre. The new hospice officially welcomed its first three patients in January 1999.
Over the past four decades, St. Rocco’s has touched the lives of many and is fondly recognised by those across the community. Seeing Warrington Town Hall lit up in the hospice’s green and blue serves as a fitting tribute to the vital role it continues to play within the Warrington community.
Marie Egerton, Director of Commercial Development at St. Rocco’s said, “This is such an iconic building in Warrington and we are very proud that it is shining brightly to celebrate an amazing Warrington Community Service.”
St. Rocco’s would like to thank Warrington Borough Council and Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Mo Hussain for their support.
