TWO local people have been arrested and a large quantity of illegal drugs seized following a successful police stop check in Warrington.

At around 3.40 pm on Monday, 13 October, officers from the Roads and Crime Unit were on patrol in Warrington when they spotted a suspicious vehicle on Mersey Street.
Officers stopped the Grey Audi Q2 and during a search of the car, they discovered a quantity of what are believed to be class A, B and C drugs hidden in the vehicle.
The driver of the car, a 45-year-old man from Warrington, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs, and possession of class C drugs. He was also arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
A passenger in the vehicle, a 32-year-old woman from Warrington, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
The pair have since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Following the arrests, Police Constable Shaun Norman, of Warrington Area Investigation Team, said:“This is another fantastic result which has led to the removal of a large quantity of illegal drugs from the streets of Cheshire.
“While this investigation is in the early stages, I hope that these arrests provide reassurance for residents in the area and the wider community.
“I want to reassure the public we are doing all we can to crack down on those who bring misery to our communities, helping to ensure Cheshire remains a hostile environment for those intent on committing crime.
“If you have any concerns about drugs activity in your community, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us via 101 or online at www.cheshire.police.uk .
