Bungalows planned on land with a history of flooding

1

PLANNING chiefs are set to consider proposals for five two-bedroomed bungalows on land with a history of flooding at the rear of Orford Road, Poulton-with-Fearnhead, Warrington.

The scheme, put forward by the Egerton Trust, will be studied by members of the development management committee following concerns by borough councillors Stephen Rydzkowski and Rebecca Knowles.
Four nearby residents have also objected to the proposals.
Main concerns expressed include a history of flooding in the area, loss of habitat for protected species and highway safety risks posed by access to the site.
There are also concerns about a loss of privacy for rear gardens of existing properties.
But planning officers are recommending the development be approved.

They say it has been demonstrated the development could be made safe from flooding during its lifetime.
The proposals will not cause unacceptable harm to the amenity of existing property, or on the existing highway network.
There would also be no unacceptable impact on protected species.

  1. Hasn’t this been declined and flood defences put in and John Thorp helped residents to get a right of way developed and it was used by Rylands. That will mean nearly 1700 new homes will ave been approved if this and the Crab Lane site get approved. If it’s in Poulton with Fearnhead it’s going to get approved. Well done to Steve for standing up for the area.
