INDEPENDENT Cllr. Neil Johnson had a busy start to the weekend after speaking with residents on Warrington Road in Risley in his ward of Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft.
After being alerted to the poor state of the road signs on the border between Croft and Culcheth, Neil opted not to wait for Warrington Borough Council, deciding instead to tackle the problem himself.
Grabbing his bucket and sponge and a pair of secateurs from home, Neil set to work.
He said: “The dreadful state of these road signs needed immediate attention. The Risley sign was completely obscured by brambles and the 40mph sign was so dirty, it was practivally unreadable.
“So I took my bucket and sponge and a pair of secateurs, and I think the end result will make quite a difference!
“The 40mph sign has now been cleaned up, with all the dirt and grime removed, and the bushes and brambles obscuring the “Risley” sign have been cut back.
“A little pride in our village goes a long way, and that is what I’m determined to deliver.
“If you know of similar problems elsewhere, with dirty signs or overgrown shrubbery, please let me know and I will get some action taken.”
