THERE is still time to sign up for a brand-new Neon Night Walk event this Saturday (Sept 13) that will see the streets of Warrington ‘glow up’ to celebrate St Rocco’s Hospice providing care and support to the community for 40 years.
The Neon Night Walk will start and finish in the concourse at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. This high-energy event features a 5km route and, if you’re feeling extra groovy, finish the first lap in under an hour and a half and you can choose to do it twice! Dig out your leg warmers, grab your glow sticks, and come dressed in your brightest 80s gear to light up the town. There will be live 80s music from 6.30 pm with food and drink available to buy before and after the walk. The walk will begin at 8.00 pm and is open to everyone, so let’s make it a night to remember – because 40 never looked so bright!
All walkers will receive a limited-edition Neon Night Walk t-shirt to wear on the night and will be presented with a special medal at the finish line. There is also the opportunity to purchase neon accessories like flashing headwear or glow glasses during the sign-up process to make it even easier to be neon-ready on the night!
The Events Team is also looking for lots of volunteers to support the event. Volunteer roles include route marshals to direct and cheer on the walkers as well as volunteers based at the stadium to signpost people, help with registration, sell merchandise and give out medals when the walkers cross the finish line. Under 18s are also eligible to volunteer with permission from a parent/guardian.
