VIDEO: EIGHT years after leaving Warrington Wolves, former coach Tony Smith was back at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
He was back in town for an early morning networking breakfast with the Warrington Wolves Foundation and Squad Builder, talking about his time in Rugby League and about his new venture as a menotring coach working with businesses.
Although he still does some sports work with coaching and mentoring, his main focus is business and developing leaders, with his time in Rugby League definately now over after stints at Hull KR and Hull FC.
During his talk he gave an insight into his life behind the scenes coaching players and working to bring the best out of them.
He also reflected on his first coaching job at Huddersfield Giants where he tasted relegation and 13 back-to-back defeats at the start of his first full season in charge.
He described it as “The most enjoyable” part of his coaching career.
On the back of a brief playing career in the wilderness at Workington, he turned to coaching, with his main success coming at Leeds Rhinos and Warrington Wolves, while also coaching the national team.
After his talk he caught up with current Coach Sam Burgess and checked out the sqaud during training.
He also took time out for his first interview with Warrington Worldwide in eight years!
Tony Smith also admits who he was cheering for during the recent challenge cup final between Warrington Wolves & Hull KR.
