LATCHFORD’S unbeaten start to the season came to an abrupt end when a well organised Chorley side put in a dominant second-half performance to claim an 8-34 victory in the NWML shield group stage.

The first half was a close affair with the visitors opening the scoring in the first five minutes, before Latchford hit back with two quick-fire tries from Alfie Kennedy and Finlay Crowe, before Chorley regained the lead with two tries in the last ten minutes of the half to make it 8-14 at the break.
As with the first half the visitors crossed first to extend their lead.
Latchford were unable to find a way back into the game, as an experienced Chorley side defended well and subsequently crossed for three further tries to seal victory.

Coach Sean Bond was still upbeat and added: “I couldn’t fault the effort today, we were a bit light in the middles, and they were a big and well organised side who fully exploited this and were worthy victors.
“We are still a very young and inexperienced side who will learn a lot of lessons from today, and we will put this behind us and move on from this setback,, we have had a brilliant season so far and one back result does not change that.
Latchford have a free weekend to recover before returning to action on Saturday 28th June when they are scheduled to face Woolston A.
