WARRINGTON & Vale Royal College has responded to green skills demand by launching a new Skills Bootcamp in Air Source & Ground Source Heat Pump Technology, beginning on 18th June 2025 at its Warrington campus.

This 5-week course (2 days per week) is free of charge* for eligible participants and is designed to provide the technical and practical skills needed to enter or progress within the fast-growing renewable energy sector.
As the demand for low-carbon heating solutions continues to rise, Skills Bootcamp: Air Source & Ground Source Heat Pump Technology provides a timely opportunity for those already working in construction or property maintenance to upskill and specialise in heat pump technologies.
The bootcamp combines classroom-based learning with hands-on training and employability support, preparing participants for a range of skilled roles. These include the likes of Heat Pump Installer, Renewable Heating Engineer, and Low Carbon Heating Technician. These roles are in high demand across a range of sectors, including renewable energy firms, construction companies, social housing maintenance teams, and organisations delivering retrofit and decarbonisation projects.

This Skills Bootcamp covers a range of areas, including:

• Principles of heat pump systems, including thermodynamics and refrigerant cycles
• Installation, maintenance, and commissioning of domestic air and ground source heat pumps
• Safe tool handing, system integration, testing, and fault diagnosis
• Understanding of industry regulations, environmental legislation, and system handover best practice
• Core technical competencies including system design, interpretation of technical drawings, and health and safety compliance.

Skills Bootcamp: Air Source & Ground Source Heat Pumps is particularly suited to those currently working in construction or property maintenance roles who are looking to progress in their role, transition into a renewable technology role, or take on new responsibilities. It is especially relevant for property maintenance teams within social housing organisations, where green energy expertise is increasingly in demand.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to enhance their skills, change careers, or take the next step in the growing green construction and low-carbon heating sectors.
Places are limited and expected to fill quickly. For more information and to secure a place on this bootcamp, please email: [email protected] today.
*Skills Bootcamp: Air Source & Ground Source Heat Pumps is free for eligible individuals not sponsored by an employer. For employer-sponsored learners, a contribution is required: £350 for small or medium-sized employers, and £1,050 for larger employers.
