THE forecast is for showers but Birchwood Carnival on Sunday is promising a feast of music, shows, colour and excitement for all.

The ever-popular annual event, now in its 42nd year at Birchwood Forest Park, has plenty of first-class entertainment lined up once again for people of all ages to enjoy.
A colourful ‘Back to the 80s’ themed procession around the park led by Batida Rio Samba Band marks the start of the festivities at 12.40pm. Next is the fancy dress competition judging and prize-giving, followed by the official event opening at 1pm.

The afternoon’s arena acts include Paws for Thought Dog Display, Batida Rio, a Bhangra Dance Show and local act Northern Starr Dance.
There will also be a fun dog show running throughout the afternoon, a large fun fair and around 30 charity, craft and commercial stalls to visit.
Other attractions this year include a wide range of food outlets, Zoo 2 U Animals, a climbing wall and wipeout challenge, rodeo donkey, magic shows, donkey rides and local history displays.
There will also be the chance to join a range of workshops, including drumming, craft and circus skills. Most of the activities are free of charge, so there will be lots to do for the whole family!

Warrington Borough Council deputy leader and cabinet member for communities, culture and leisure, Cllr Jean Flaherty, said: “This year’s Birchwood Carnival is shaping up to be another fantastic event! It’s always a highlight in Warrington’s calendar, delivering a day packed with family fun in the beautiful surroundings of Birchwood Forest Park.
“You can expect all the beloved traditions, including the colourful procession, music performances, dog shows, a fun fair, history displays, stalls and much more. Make sure you join us for what is sure to be or a memorable day out.”

Birchwood Carnival is organised and run by Warrington Borough Council’s Ranger Service and Birchwood Carnival Committee, with funding and support from: Birchwood Town Council, Sellafield Ltd, Your Housing Group, Birchwood Park, Birchwood Shopping Centre, The Friends of Birchwood Forest Park, Birchwood Lions, Nisa, Gleeds, TF Jones and The Buddha Group
