THE generosity of Warrington people following the devastating flats fire at Rynet Court on Marsh House Lane has been overwhelming!

As a result, the council and Your Housing have issued a statement thanking people for their generosity and appealing for no further physical items to be donated at this stage.

A Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said: “We have witnessed a great deal of public support for residents who were evacuated from their homes following the devastating fire at Rynet Court on Monday evening.
Warrington Borough Council and Your Housing Group (YHG), which manages the flats at Rynet Court, are very grateful for the large number of donations of non-perishable foods, clothing and toiletries etc so far. Food vouchers have also been given to affected residents and their families by YHG, with evacuated residents in temporary accommodation.
“The positive community response so far has been so overwhelming, that we are now requesting no further physical donations at this point. This is to enable YHG to properly assess what has been donated and to distribute these donations appropriately. We will provide a further update when we know what other donated items might be needed.”
A 10-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the fire and released on bail pending further investigations.
