LONG-serving councillor Paul Campbell was elected chairman of Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council at its annual meeting.
Members also elected Cllr Alicia Edwards as vice chairman.
Over a period of almost 20 years, Cllr Campbell has served as a parish councillor and was a previous chairman of both Culcheth and Glazebury and Croft Parish Councils
He also served as a borough councillor on Warrington Borough Council 2008-2012 and was a Parliamentary Candidate in 2010.
He said: ‘It’s always an honour when my fellow parish councillors are willing to put their faith in me to lead the parish council in the upcoming year.
“I stepped in as temporary chairman in February taking on that role up until the AGM where I was formally elected.
“The parish council fulfils an important role in the local community. Being local, all councillors put their names forward to work on behalf of all the residents of our villages, and they do this as a team. Since February we have had a successful time in bringing in a balanced budget and putting on a great annual Community Day, working with local organisations and charities. We have also now employed a team from the Warrington Youth Club to work with the young people in our villages.
“Coming up we will have this year’s Remembrance Day Parade to look forward to once more, having successfully brought it back last year. The parish council deals with many issues that affect our community and will continue to do so. I look forward to the year ahead working with my councillor colleagues for the benefit of all the residents of Culcheth and Glazebury.”
